Why people choose Nai Yang
Nai Yang is the beach Phuket locals actually use. A long curve of sand shaded by casuarina pines inside Sirinat National Park, with a line of simple seafood restaurants along the back and families out most weekends. It is unpolished in a way that the west coast largely is not, and considerably cheaper for it.
The park designation is a genuine asset: it caps what can be built on the beachfront, so the tree line stays and the view from the sand does not fill with concrete. Behind it, residential development is modest and prices remain sensible.
Where it sits
Nai Yang sits just north of the airport on the north-west coast, with Mai Khao continuing north and Nai Thon south over the headland. The airport is around ten minutes away; Cherngtalay and Boat Avenue about twenty minutes south.
Phuket Town is a longer run at roughly forty minutes.

A short history
Nai Yang has been part of Sirinat National Park for decades, which shaped everything about it: no large-scale beachfront development, a preserved tree line and a beach that has stayed in local hands.
Growth has happened behind the park boundary rather than on it, in the form of modest hotels and residential streets inland.
The beach and the coastline
A long shaded curve with shallow water at the southern end and reef offshore. It is calmer than Mai Khao and popular with Thai families. Monsoon conditions still bring surf and currents from May to October.
Eating and drinking
The row of beach restaurants is the reason many people come: grilled seafood, som tam and cold beer at prices that have not chased the tourist market. A few more places sit along the inland road.
Shopping and everyday errands
Convenience stores and small local shops, with supermarkets around Thalang and the airport a short drive away. For a full weekly shop, Porto de Phuket is twenty minutes.
Schools, healthcare and getting around
UWC Thailand is around fifteen minutes. Clinics are nearby; hospitals are in Phuket Town, about forty minutes. A car is expected, though the village itself is walkable.

Is aircraft noise a problem?
At the southern end, yes — aircraft pass low on approach. Further north it drops away quickly. It is very address-specific and best judged standing on the plot.
Is the beach safe for swimming?
Generally, in the dry season, and shallower at the southern end. Between May and October surf and currents make it unsafe on many days; take the flags seriously.
Can a foreign buyer own here?
A mix of condominium stock, where foreign freehold may be available if the building has capacity, and houses held on registered long leases. We confirm which applies before you commit.
What does national park status mean for buyers?
It restricts development on the beachfront and protected land, which preserves the setting but also means some parcels near the boundary carry limits. Verifying the boundary and permissions is essential here.
Is it good value?
Yes, comparatively. You are paying considerably less than the Bang Tao corridor for a protected beach and a ten-minute airport run.
